Junior
Our junior programmes cater for children from years 1-8 at school (age 5-13).
Year 1 & 2 Children take part in our Funsticks programme. Funsticks is a fundamental movement and basic skill development programme.
NEW for 2024 is the Year 1 and 2 Competition. This age group will be able to enter teams into a Junior Competition with a Train and Play coaching session first and then a game each week. Keep an eye out for more details soon.
Children in years 3-8 at school take part in Small Sticks. Small Sticks is a series of modified games that are tailored to be age and stage appropriate and change in format as children move through this age range. Small sticks are predominately school-based (mixed) teams although we do have some clubs who run teams in this competition.

FUNSTICKS - Year 1 & 2
Join our Fun Sticks Hockey Programme
Fun Sticks is a fundamental movement and basic skill development programme that consists of a variety of sessions for the Term 3 programme.
No equipment (sticks and balls) are needed! Please provide your own shin guards and mouth guard. These can be purchased at any sports shop.

Otago Hockey are offering two Fun Sticks modules for Term 3 2024!
- McMillan Hockey Turf - Wednesday Afternoons, 3.30pm-4.15pm
- Mosgiel, Taieri College ITC - Friday Afternoons 4.00pm-4:45pm
Cost:
Dunedin Programme: $55 per child.
Mosgiel Programme: $45 per child.

SMALL STICKS
Modified games to suit all age groups:
Mini Sticks: Years 1&2, 3&4, Modified field- 6 a-side games (Wednesday nights)
Kiwi Sticks: Years 5&6, Modified field- 6 a-side games (Wednesday nights)
Kwik Sticks: Years 7&8, Modified field - 6-a-side games (Friday nights)
Contact your school to find out about their Hockey teams or get in touch with our Competitions Manager if your school does not have teams and your child/ren are keen to play.

Otago Hockey offers a comprehensive in-schools hockey programme, this includes:

Up to 3x half-hour sessions per class per year taken by an Otago Hockey Coach.
