Otago Hockey Accelerator Programme 2023

Otago Hockey is spending more time investing in their future by offering the Junior Accelerator Hockey Program to players in the Year 5&6, Year 7&8 (U13) and Year 9,10&11 (U15) age groups.

This Program is open to any player in the above age groups who would like to improve and up-skill their hockey in preparation for the 2023 hockey season.

The trainings will be overseen by our Pathway Manager - Hymie Gill – with the help of Otago Representative players.

The U15 age group we will spend the first 4 weeks working on skill development. This will be looking perfecting the skills we already have as well as learning new skills.

Then we will spend 4 weeks playing 11 a side games - learning positions / roles and responsibilities so we are ready for the start of the competition. This will involve team talks with coaches and games being stop mid game for coaching opportunities.

The U13 age group will spend the first 4 weeks working on skill development. This will be looking perfecting the skills we already have as well as learning new skills.

Then we will spend 4 weeks playing 6 a side games - learning positions / roles and responsibilities so we are ready for the start of the competition. This will involve team talks with coaches and games being stop mid game for coaching opportunities.

The sessions will be:

Tuesday 4.00pm-5.30pm

These sessions start Tuesday 14th February

NOTE: For Year 11 to be eligible for U15 the child must be U15 on 1st Jan 2023, otherwise they are U18 (see registration page).
