Accelerator Programme
Otago Hockey Accelerator Programme 2025
The Junior Accelerator Hockey Program will in 2025 be organized by distinct age groups.
For the U13 age group, specialized coaches will provide guidance tailored to this level. This group will be further divided into two categories: Year 5 & 6 (ages 9 and 10) and Year 7 & 8 (ages 11 and 12), effective from January 1, 2025.
This Programme is to get players ready for the up-coming hockey season by offering specialist sessions in
- Hitting
- Push passing on the move
- Tackling
- Dribbling
- Goal scoring
The U16 age group, which includes Years 9, 10, and 11 (ages 13, 14,15,16) as of January 1, 2025, will have concept based skill sessions and small games based sessions, focusing in on playing in triangles and attacking and defending in 3's.
There will be an element of focus on our basic skills, making sure there is a strong emphasis on dribbling, passing and tackling . PCA and PCD will also be covered in these sessions to make sure we have these skills for the coming season.
The above trainings will be overseen by our Pathway Manager - Hymie Gill – with the help of Otago Representative players.
The sessions will be:
Tuesday 4.30pm-6.00pm at Kings High School Turf
These sessions start Monday 17th February and run through until the 7th April
The cost for this program is $125 for the 8 weeks.
